Greening the Loess Plateau

　　Loess Plateau in central northern China, is the birthplace of Chinese agricultural civilization. However, excessive land reclamation has caused soil erosion, leading to low crop yields and poverty. Deforestation in hopes of higher yields has in turn perpetuated the vicious cycle. How have the locals broken that cycle? Why are apples becoming the "golden eggs" for farmers?
